Sandrasegeran and Law Lee Poh visit the Kota Kinabalu Toastmasters Club
- 22 February 2005

Once in a while, Toastmasters from outside Division K honour the Kota Kinabalu Toastmasters Club with their visits. On 22 February 2005, Area C3 Governor Sandrasegaran Subramaniam, ATM-B and Club President Law Lee Poh, ATM-B of Connections Toastmasters Club, Kuching graced the Club’s meeting, which was its Valentine Theme Meeting. Although by then Valentine was over, the spirit of the occasion prevailed during the meeting.

The Toastmaster of the Evening was Chong Tzu Jiun, CTM, who came dressed in red with a rose stuck on one of his ears. He put his best foot forward in ensuring that everyone enjoyed the meeting. The spirit of Valentine rested well with the audience when he requested everyone to rise and give each other a hug.

Sandrasegaran took the role of Table Topics Master that evening, and challenged the members to an interesting array of questions. The members enthusiastically responded to his questions.

There were four speakers that evening. Stanley Joibi, CTM delivered a management report for his ATM-B Speech No. 2; TM John Sham talked about being an Accountant for his C & L No. 2; Richard A. Gontusan, DTM demonstrated watercolour painting for his C & L No. 5; and TM Yakub Mahmud started his Toastmasters journey with an Ice Breaker Speech.

The General Evaluator of the Evening was Louis Tham, DTM, who scored the meeting highly. Sandrasegaran echoed Louis’ assessment of the meeting, while Law Lee Poh gave the meeting a 5-star ranking.

The Best Dressed Gentleman Award went to Chong Tzu Jiun, CTM while Christine Yap, DTM walked away with the Best Dressed Lady. What a lovely couple!

For Sandrasegaran and Law Lee Poh, the meeting did not end with the club meeting. They graciously joined some of the members to a teh tarik session at the Club’s unofficial second meeting place at Damai, and talked the evening away, mostly on Toastmasters-related matter. Boring? Certainly not! Toastmasters have learned the art of making any topic interesting and educational!
