Demonstration Meeting for the Semporna Mandarin Toastmasters Club - 15 May 2005

A Toastmasters demonstration meeting for the purpose of chartering the Semporna Mandarin Toastmasters Club was held on Sunday, 15 May 2005 at the Seafest Hotel, Semporna.

Semporna is a town on the east coast of the Malaysian state of Sabah, which is about a hour's drive from Tawau, Sabah's second largest town after Kota Kinabalu, the capital city. Semporna is famous for its seafood, and is the gateway to the islands of Sipadan and Mabul, two of the world's best diving spots. One of Semporna's famous landmarks is its "floating" seafood restaurant, which is built on stilt over water by the coast.

31 prospective members from Semporna attended the meeting. They were joined by 26 members from the Tawau Mandarin Toastmasters Club. Tawau Mandarin Toastmasters Club will the sponsor club of the Semporna Mandarin Toastmasters Club. The idea of chartering the club was mooted by the Area K5 Governor, Fung Thin Ken, ATM-B.

A dialogue session was held with the prospective members after the demo meeting. Area K5 Governor Fung Then Ken chaired the dialogue session. Assistant Division K Governor - Marketing, Victor Rajasekran, ATM-B, was also present at the demo meeting and dialogue session.
